Tracey Neuls | Spring Summer 2010

As a kid, I loved to spend time outside in the spring garden at my grandparents’ house in Canada. I can still summon up that childlike love of nature: the magic of those tell-tale signs that winter was over – the fresh new smell in the air and a changeover in insect inhabitants (hating the hairy spiders that lurked under the covers of my bed in the winter, it was always refreshing to watch them be replaced by ladybirds!). Birds would start chirping and old nests were re-inhabited. Full nests of eggs were always a good find and would provide a full day’s play. Robin’s eggs were the icing on the cake: they are a wonderful almost translucent whitish blue green. You would often spot lone eggs that had fallen to the ground, but on one occasion I found the holy grail – an untouched nest full of eggs. To this day it is one of my favourite colours. Memories, experiences and ultimately emotions are what drive me to create.

Enjoy Spring Summer 2010!
